Once again, Brooke is selfless

No offense, but when Haley, Nathan or anyone else does something selfless those fans spread it around aswell. So don't act like it's only done by Brooke fans. I'm so tired of people who act like one kind of fan-dom is better than another. Just accept that everyone does that with their favorite character.

I don't want to barge into this but I think that's exactly dreamedinheist's point. Every character and every fandom does that but as far as I've noticed, Brooke has always been the one character people keep gushing as THE selfless character on the show. I think that's what they were talking about. Sure, every fanbase does that with their favourites but honestly I've always seen people labelling Brooke for being super uber selfless and being known as some sort of second coming as far as selflessness goes and that is something I don't really see Haley, Nathan, Lucas, Peyton or everybody else's fanbase doing, labelling their favourites as the ultimate selfless character. At least not the way Brooke is. And I like Brooke and I do agree she has been selfless throghout the show but not to the extent some people put it and I think that's what everyone was pointing out. But that's just me

My point is that Nathan fans will prolly not even notice doing it, praising the character for several things. That Haley fans will prolly not even notice doing it, praising the characters for several things. Somehow Nathan fans or Haley fans just see Brooke fans applauding for Brooke's character and they only see people calling Brooke selfless and such. And that goes both ways. Brooke fans or Lucas fans or who-ever just notice when other people are calling their fan favorite selfless or perfect or what so ever. That's my point. I've spend over a year around here and noticed A LOT of Nathan fans, A LOT of Brooke fans and A LOT of Haley fans doing the exact same thing as the other fans do. And some people involving all fan-bases just act like their fanbase is so much better and that their character is so much under-seen. That's what I dislike.

But no one said one fanbase is better than the other. Yes, I admit the fanbases are all pretty much the same and it's normal and okay that they all praise the characters they love but I think the main point here was that Brooke's selflessness is taken out of proportion by some of her fans, just like Haley's, Nathan's, Lucas' or even Mouth's take some things out of proportion. I don't think it's a matter of "Oh they do this, it's annoying, look how much better we are!". I see it as a sort of "they do this, it's annoying." and that's it. But again, that's just me

As I posted before ( my first post in this topic ) I actually agree with Brooke's selflessness taking out of proportion. But I just quoted dreamedinheist because she acted like all Brooke fans do nothing but praise Brooke's character and that they all just keep saying that she is so selfless and such. THAT'S what I quoted on. THAT'S what I didn't think was fair. Sure, you can have your opinion, and I gave mine in my first post but she made it seem like Brooke fans are the only ones praising their character for certain things. And I just wanted to point out that every fan-base does that. I mean...since when is it ok to generalize? When people generalize Haley fans they get upset, but at the same time....and that goes for Nathan fans aswell, aswell as Lucas or who-ever. And that's coming from a person who likes all characters, especially Haley and Brooke.

I think the person who started this topic meant how the other characters on the show keep saying how selfless Brooke is, not the fans of the show in general. And that is something I agree with. I don't remember season 6  that well (beside the LP stuff but I do remember that several characters directly or indirectly mentioned how selfless Brooke was. And even the hardcore Brooke fans were annoyed with it.

I agree, HaleyScott23.  I don't get how this turned into a competition between the characters.  For me, Brooke is about as selfless as Haley or Nathan or Peyton or anyone else on the show.  And THAT'S the point I'm trying to make. And I think what HaleyScott23 and Dreamedinheist88 was making.  It's not necessarily about comparing them.  It's about how some fans make Brooke appear to be so selfless for the most mundane situations.  Yes, I praise Haley for her selfless moments, but IMO, they're actually selfless moments.  I don't overexaggerate her "selfless" moments. And I don't see too many other fanbases doing it either.  But in my own personal observations, I do see it happening a lot with Brooke.  And that's not me saying a certain fanbase is better than another one or anything like that.

And that's the thing. Brooke fans...they like Brooke. That makes sense. So ofcourse they will exaggerate things. I love Brooke but I can admit, as posted earlier some people / some characters on the show overexaggerate her character. But dreamedinheist88 mentioned clearly that it is only praised when Brooke does something selfishless. I quote her literally : ''So why is it only recognized and praised when Brooke does it? It's so funny ''. And THAT'S just not true. I wasn't comparing characters ; I was only trying to point out that SOME fans out of every fan-base out there exaggarates sometimes. And the thing is....they don't even realise doing so most of the times. I've spend times in all different threads but in every fanbase there are people who always try to make their fandom, or their character, the victim by stating that another character is always praised for something and that their character is so much under-seen. And if you look objectively you'll notice it aswell. There are fans around here, in every fan-dom who can do that and don't try to look more superior or something, or by playing the victim. But there are also fans who do exactly that, and not even noticing it. And if they want to do that....they have every right to. But I didn't like what Dreamedinheist88 was implying.

Also, everyone on this forum seems to think every time their favorite characters do something nice and genuine, they're automatically being 'selfless.' And I fully agree with that. Brooke fans are just not the only fans who do that with their favorite character. That's all I wanted to say. But other than that...the multiple threads and like sms said..the negative threads...I fully agree.

So this whole discussion about fanbases is moot, I wasn't referring to the fans opinion of Brooke's selflessness. I honestly don't really care if Brooke fans think Brooke is the most selfless person in the world.

In that case I misunderstood you, sorry! It just came across like you were talking about fans only calling Brooke selfisless, and not other characters. Sorry!

LOL @ people already being tired of Brooke's angelic act *Sophia's influence* in season 6.  It's a thousand times worse now.

What used to make Brooke's selflessness beautiful is that it was subtle.  It was just the nature of her character to be fiesty with funny stuff and guarded with vulnerable stuff.  She was willing to quitely sacrafice her own feelings.  There were no grand gestures, people often weren't even aware of it, there was no shouting from the rooftops about it, and there was no steady stream of pity tears coming from her character.  This version of her selflessness now is the annoying kind that ends up not feeling like true sefllessness at all.
