I just wanna elaborate a bit on what I said last night - I was VERY emotional & worked up then, LoL!
I don't want it to sound like just because I forgive Dan & can make peace w/ it & his death & move on now that that means I LIKE Dan now or something. I still can't stand him & I will ALWAYS h8t what he did in killing Keith & for being the way he was & treating everyone the way he did for so long.
And I will always h8t that it took something as huge as murdering his own brother for him to finally begin to realize who he was & what he stood for & how he treated the one's he loved the most & how he chose to live his life.
But I feel like he took someone's life away & then, in the end, he gave his life to save someone else's.
And I DO feel like he truly realized the magnitude of who he was & everything he did & was finally 100% remorseful & apologetic by the end of his life, & that's (again) why I believe Keith (& I) could, in turn, forgive him. Like Keith said, he can / could NEVER go back & change anything he did - All he could was move on, learn from it & become the best person he could possibly be for the rest of his life. That's it.
And I also LOVE the way it was always written - Dan's character progression that is, even going back to s4 when ghost-Keith repeatedly told Dan that he forgave & Dan wasn't able to accept / hear it yet & therefor just kept telling him to shut up, etc. Because he realized @ that time the magnitude of what he had done, but I don't think that he truly FELT it in his soul yet. And that's why Keith forgave him & forgave him, but in the end ... said that hell wouldn't.
This time, he could TRULY apologize to Keith & Keith could TRULY accept it & forgive him & Dan only slightly hesitated & could finally accept that forgiveness.
Also - I do wanna say on people saying that Keith coming back was just yet "another OTH ghost storyline" - Yeah, I DO get where you guys are coming from on that, but I don't agree @ all ... & no, it really ISN'T just because of how much I flippin' FADORE Uncle Keith / Craig ... it really & truly isn't. I promise.
This is why - I feel that w/ all of OTH's (sometimes completely crazy, I agree, haha) ghost-storylines in the past, this really WAS the most legitimate one.
Dan was dying / dead ... for REAL. It wasn't like a near death experience moment or a moment where he saw Keith & then they miraculously brought him back to life in some insane way or something, lol.
Everyone has different religious & spiritual beliefs & what not, but I really feel that if you were ever going to incorporate a ghost storyline into a show like this, that was the PERFECT way / scenario to do it in. He died & the last thing he thought about / dwelled on in his life was what haunted him his entire life, his relationship w/ his brother who he killed.
Keith was there to meet him & forgive him & show him that it DOES get better & he WAS loved so that his soul could find the total peace he needed to move on to whatever the next stage is.
Sooo yeah. I dunno. Everyone believes differently & everything & I COMPLETELY get that! And some people adored Dan & some people didn't really care about Keith all that much, & I'm a double extreme on that, I know. Keith was my all time favorite character & I could never stand Dan even BEFORE he took Keith away from me, haha.
But I just really personally felt that that was the most legit ghost storyline OTH could / has ever do / done.
